Russian Drone Strike on Starokozache Checkpoint Kills Two on Ukraine-Moldova Border

| Ukraine War

Russian forces struck the Starokozache international road checkpoint on Ukraine's border with Moldova (opposite Moldova's Tudora crossing) with attack drones on September 9, killing two people and wounding three. The strike hit the checkpoint's infrastructure and surrounding area, sparking fires and forcing the crossing's closure; rescue workers evacuated 16 people from the site. Russia's Defense Ministry said the checkpoint had been used to move military cargo into Ukraine. The checkpoint reopened later the same day.
