Hundreds Detained at Lecumberri — Trials Denied

| Tlatelolco 1968

Over the weeks following the massacre, hundreds of students are held at the historic Lecumberri Prison in Mexico City (also known as the 'Black Palace'). Among the detainees are CNH leaders, professors, and bystanders. Many are held for months or years under the 'social dissolution' law (Articles 145-145bis of the Penal Code), a Cold War-era statute criminalizing broadly defined 'subversive' activity. Defense lawyers are denied access.
