Cambodian Information Minister: Ceasefire 'Cannot Establish a New' Cambodia-Thailand Border

Information Minister Neth Pheaktra issued a statement rejecting Thailand's interpretation of the December 27, 2025 ceasefire, saying the joint statement 'is not a boundary treaty and cannot be used to alter the internationally recognised border.' He said historical Franco-Siamese maps remain the legal foundation for demarcation, that Thai ground actions -- including barbed wire, bunkers and flag installations -- violate international law, and that the Joint Boundary Commission remains the only legitimate venue for resolving the dispute. 'Military positions may be frozen to stop the shooting,' he said, 'but borders are neither frozen nor redrawn according to where troops happen to stand.'
