RSF North Kordofan Intelligence Chief Dahloub Leads 200 Fighters in Defection to Army at Omdurman

Sudanese state media reported on August 31, 2026 that around 200 Rapid Support Forces fighters had defected and joined the Sudanese army, arriving in Omdurman where they were received by SAF units and members of the SAF-aligned Revolutionary Awakening Council. The group was led by Abu Bakr Hamouda Dahloub, identified as the RSF's special missions intelligence chief for North Kordofan state, who said the fighters had recognized 'their mistake in following the project being implemented by the RSF militia' and joined the 'national camp' to help 'eliminate the rebel RSF militia.' The defection is the latest in a mounting wave that has seen roughly 300 fighters under Brig. Gen. Musa Khamiseen defect on August 21 and 318 fighters with four commanders defect on August 19, as battlefield pressure in Kordofan and Darfur continues to erode RSF ranks.
