Sudanese Army Finds Mass Grave With 25 Bodies in Kurmuk, Blue Nile

Sudanese army units discovered a mass grave containing the bodies of 25 civilians — including women, children, and hospital staff — in northeastern Kurmuk, Blue Nile State, on August 9, 2026, during clearing operations more than a month after government forces recaptured the town from the RSF on July 8. Local authorities, including Kurmuk commissioner Abdel Aty Mohamed al-Faki, accused the RSF of executing the victims near Jebel Fankat, a hill the RSF had used to launch suicide drones during its occupation of the town. The RSF made no public comment on the accusation. The discovery followed similar mass graves found in Khartoum and Gezira states after the army recaptured those areas.
