RSF-SPLM-N Alliance Seizes Parts of Geisan, Blue Nile; 20+ Civilians Killed

| Sudan Conflict

An RSF and SPLM-N (al-Hilu faction) alliance launched a heavy early-morning assault on Geisan, a Blue Nile State town near the Ethiopian border, on August 11, 2026, reportedly staging from Ethiopian territory. Using heavy artillery and drones, RSF fighters seized large parts of the town and reached its main market, where they looted shops and opened fire on civilians; the Sudanese army retained control of the 13th Infantry Brigade headquarters amid heavy ongoing clashes. UN OCHA reported that more than 20 civilians were killed and many others injured in the Tuesday clashes, with roughly 2,500 people (about 500 families) displaced, most relocating within the locality while others crossed into Ethiopia.
