SPLM-N (al-Hilu) Detains Six More Aid Workers in Kauda, South Kordofan

The Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (al-Hilu faction) detained six humanitarian workers in Kauda, South Kordofan State, on August 8, 2026, and took them to an undisclosed location — two days after detaining four other aid workers from the Smartin organization. The six were identified as John Omar, Moza Younis, Najah Koko, Dr. Mirghani Adam, Akhnouq Ramadan, and Nasri Musa, representing Answer the Call, Smartin, and the International Rescue Committee. The detentions came amid clashes between SPLM-N forces and the Otoro tribe in the Kauda area; Otoro tribal chief Koko Al-Daqir called on authorities to halt the detentions and return to legal procedures.
