Joint Force Repels Second RSF Encirclement Attempt on Bir Saliba in a Week

| Sudan Conflict

The RSF launched a second attempt in less than a week to seize Bir Saliba, West Darfur, on August 8, 2026, attempting to encircle the Joint Force position from multiple directions. Regional governor Minni Arko Minnawi said the RSF 'bet on surprise to break through defenses,' but the attack was again repelled by Joint Force fighters and allied SAF units, following the failed August 4 assault in which RSF commander Mahdi Adam ('Jebel Moon') was killed. The area, roughly 30km north of el-Geneina, remains the RSF's last major stronghold in West Darfur.
