215+ Detainees Reported Dead at RSF-Run Daqrees Prison, Nyala
Sudan Doctors Network reported on June 24, 2026 that more than 215 civilian detainees died during May-June 2026 at Daqrees (Dagris) Prison in RSF-held Nyala, South Darfur, from disease, torture, and denial of medical care under conditions described as 'lacking even the most basic standards of healthcare and human dignity.' Thirty-one detainees, including children, had been transferred to Nyala Hospital more than two weeks earlier with their current status/whereabouts unknown. Medical personnel also alleged RSF was extracting blood from prisoners for wounded fighters. Sudanese authorities estimate RSF holds 19,000+ military and civilian detainees across Darfur. A fuller documentation of the same 215+ deaths was published by the Committee for Justice on July 8, 2026.
