RSF-SPLM-N Artillery Shells Dilling Residential Areas; Civilians Killed and Injured
RSF forces and allied SPLM-N elements continued shelling residential areas of Dilling in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan on April 5, killing at least 5 civilians and wounding 33, including children, according to the Sudan Doctors Network. The shelling represents a continuation of the intense RSF-SPLM-N military pressure on Dilling that began in late March 2026. Dilling is a strategic SAF-held town in the Nuba Mountains; its fall would open a corridor toward El Obeid in North Kordofan. The Sudan Doctors Network previously warned of an El Fasher-scale humanitarian catastrophe emerging in South Kordofan if the siege continues. Roads from Dilling to surrounding areas remain cut off by RSF-SPLM-N forces. Medical facilities in Dilling are reportedly overwhelmed. The attacks represent part of a broader RSF-SPLM-N coordinated offensive across South Kordofan and Blue Nile that has been running since late March 2026.
