RSF-SPLM-N Alliance Advances Toward Ed Damazin After Kurmuk Fall; Roseires Dam at Risk

Three days after capturing Kurmuk, the RSF-SPLM-N alliance under commander Joseph Touka expanded operations south, east, and west of Ed Damazin in Blue Nile State. Forces pushed toward the Geissan district on the Ethiopian border, approximately 200 km from Ed Damazin. Regional government sources warned that Geissan was at imminent risk of falling, which would directly threaten Ed Damazin, Blue Nile's state capital, and the Roseires Dam — Sudan's second-largest hydroelectric facility providing power to much of central and eastern Sudan. Approximately 3,000 more civilians, mostly women and children, fled toward Ed Damazin and the Ethiopian border as fighting expanded. The loss of the Roseires Dam would be catastrophic for Sudan's already devastated power infrastructure.
