Two Famines Declared; 400,000 Facing Starvation
Two famines have been formally declared in Sudan: El-Fasher (North Darfur) and Kadugli (South Kordofan). An additional 20+ areas in Darfur and Kordofan are at critical famine risk. Approximately 400,000 people face starvation across Sudan, making it the world's most severe hunger crisis. The UN describes Sudan as hosting the world's largest humanitarian and displacement crisis with 24.6 million people food insecure.
