Day 795: Federal Forces Detain Eight in Seven Mazatlán-Area Operations, Seize Explosives and Fentanyl

Federal, state and municipal security forces carried out seven operations in and around Mazatlán on September 25, 2026, including in El Quelite, Veranos and Siqueros, detaining eight people. One detainee was identified as an operator of a criminal faction linked to homicides and other high-impact crimes. Security Secretariat (SSPC) agents were attacked with gunfire during patrols in El Quelite, where six of the eight arrests were made. Seizures across the operations included 19 firearms (6 long guns), more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition, 12 magazines, 14 homemade explosive devices, 6 tactical vests, 415 fentanyl pills and 2 vehicles. The operations form part of President Sheinbaum's security reinforcement initiative for Mazatlán.
