Day 793: Man Killed, Bystander Wounded in Flores Magón Shooting, Mazatlán

At approximately 5:23 PM on September 23, 2026, armed men opened fire on a man standing outside a residence on Calle Dalia, between Avenida Tulipán and Calle Gladiolas, in the Ricardo Flores Magón neighborhood of Mazatlán. The victim, identified in initial reports as Jorge, roughly 35, died at the scene. Juan, 45, an employee of a soft-drink distributor who was making a delivery nearby, was struck by a stray round and drove himself to a private hospital; his vehicle sustained five bullet impacts. Municipal Police, the Mexican Army, and the State Prosecutor's Office secured the scene. The attackers fled and no arrests were reported.
