| Sinaloa Split

Around 3:30 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, a 52-year-old woman identified as Adela 'N', who lived in the La Cascada neighborhood and made and sold handmade flour and corn tortillas, was shot repeatedly and killed at the small wooden stand she operated on Convención de Apatzingán street in the Ampliación 5 de Febrero neighborhood of southeastern Culiacán. A man approached the stand and opened fire before fleeing; no arrests were reported. State security and military personnel cordoned off the scene. Local media counted her as the 97th woman murdered in Sinaloa in 2026 and the 18th in September alone, while the state Fiscalía had opened at least 14 formal feminicidio investigation files for the month as of mid-September.
