Day 783: US Citizen Shot Dead Outside Taco Stand in Mazatlán's Francisco Villa Neighborhood

Around 5:30 PM on Monday, September 14, 2026, a US citizen identified as Steve 'N', approximately 45 and a longtime area resident, was shot multiple times by armed assailants outside a taco stand/seafood restaurant on Avenida Bicentenario at the intersection with Calle Toma de Zacatecas in the Francisco Villa neighborhood of Mazatlán. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene; the body was transferred to the Medical Examiner's office. Mexican military personnel secured the area and collected shell casings, but no arrests had been announced and authorities disclosed no motive. The killing was the fourth homicide recorded in Mazatlán that day, and came two days after roughly 300 federal SSPC agents had arrived in the port to reinforce security.
