Day 782: Thousands March in Culiacán for Peace on Second Anniversary of Chapitos–Mayos War

Thousands of Culiacán residents marched on Sunday, September 13, 2026, to demand security and peace, two years after the Chapitos–Mayos war began on September 9, 2024. The mobilization started with a 7:00 AM mass followed by a march from La Lomita, and included search collectives for missing persons and families of victims carrying signs reading 'We don't want fear, we want peace' and 'When a mother cries, we all cry.' Organizers said the conflict has left more than 3,000 people killed and thousands more disappeared or displaced. The march came a day after ten homicides were recorded across Sinaloa state — four in Culiacán, five in Mazatlán and one in Escuinapa — underscoring that violence had not abated ahead of the demonstration.
