President Bush Addresses the Nation from the Oval Office
President George W. Bush delivers a prime-time address from the Oval Office, declaring: 'Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack.' He vows to find and punish those responsible and frames the attacks as an act of war. Bush had been at Emma E. Booker Elementary School in Florida at the time of the attacks and spent much of the day at secure locations before returning to Washington.
