First Burkina Faso Coup — Military Ousts President Kaboré

Lt. Col. Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba leads the MPSR in overthowing President Roch Kaboré, citing the government's failure to contain jihadist violence that had killed thousands and displaced nearly 2 million. Damiba is sworn in February 16. He will himself be ousted 8 months later by an even more hardline officer.
