| Myanmar

Torrential monsoon rain and dam discharges from the Thaphanseik and Kabo dams triggered severe flooding across Sagaing, Magway, Mandalay and Ayeyarwady regions in the days leading up to August 12, 2026. At least 25 people were killed and 2 remained missing across 13-17 townships; roughly 220,000 residents were displaced and more than 440,000 people affected nationwide. Sagaing Region — where Khin-U, Kanbalu, Kyunhla, Taze, Shwebo, Kawlin and Depayin townships were hardest hit — accounted for over half the affected population. Residents told DVB that despite regime claims of relief funding, 'nobody in the community has received any relief assistance or supplies.'
