Junta Troops Shut Down Sagaing Bridge, Confiscate Medicine Bound for Flood Victims

| Myanmar

Amid the deadly Sagaing flooding, junta troops shut down the Sagaing (Yadanabon) Bridge — the main crossing linking Sagaing and Mandalay — on August 12, 2026, turning back all vehicles carrying relief supplies from Mandalay and Yangon. Military checkpoints along roads into Sagaing confiscated medical supplies and blocked aid convoys; a volunteer aid worker told DVB that 'aid workers fear for their security, so many cannot reach Sagaing to deliver supplies.' The Myanmar Air Force separately conducted three airstrikes on flood-hit Khin-U Township the same day with no reported casualties, plus reconnaissance flights over Wetlet, Shwebo and Sagaing towns.
