DPLA Ambush Kills ~40 Junta Soldiers on Ywangan-Yatsauk Road, Southern Shan State

The Danu People's Liberation Army (DPLA) ambushed a military convoy on the Ywangan-Yatsauk road in southern Shan State on July 22, 2026, killing at least 40 soldiers and seizing weapons and ammunition — one of the deadliest single ambushes of the period. In apparent retaliation, the junta deployed more than 1,000 troops into Ywangan Township; 2 civilians were reported killed and residents of several villages fled into the surrounding forests.
