Ye Balu Resistance Force Assassinates SAC Deputy Battalion Commander Tun Yar Kyaw in Ye Township, Mon State
The Ye Balu resistance force shot and killed Tun Yar Kyaw, the second commander (deputy battalion commander) of Myanmar junta unit Ka-La-Ya (106) based in Lamai, in the Lamaing police station area of Ye Township, Mon State, on approximately May 11-13, 2026, according to Mizzima's Spring Revolution Daily News and Moemaka CDM. The killing of an officer-grade junta commander is notable for the Ye Township area — Mon State's southernmost major township bordering Tanintharyi Region — which has been an increasingly active PDF/resistance zone throughout 2025-2026. The Ye Balu Force has been one of the more active resistance units operating in Mon State's southern corridor. The PDFs in Mon State operate in coordination with KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) forces to the east, creating overlapping pressure on SAC positions in the region. The targeted killing of a deputy battalion commander reflects the resistance's increasingly effective tactical intelligence — identifying and eliminating high-value targets within SAC unit command structures rather than mass infantry engagements. This follows the April 7, 2026 PDF ambush in Ye Township that killed one SAC officer and two soldiers.
