Resistance Forces Ambush Junta Troop Column in Magway Region — 6 SAC Soldiers Killed, 30+ Injured

| Myanmar

Resistance forces in Magway Region conducted a guerrilla ambush on a Myanmar junta troop contingent on May 13, 2026, killing 6 soldiers and injuring more than 30, according to Mizzima's Spring Revolution Daily News. The Magway ambush occurred amid the SAC's intensifying ground offensive in Pauk and Saw townships, which launched large-scale operations on May 13-14. The 30+ injured figure represents one of the higher single-operation injury tolls for SAC forces in Magway Region in 2026. The attack is consistent with PDF guerrilla strategy in Magway: using ambushes and mines to attrite SAC column strength and degrade the junta's capacity to sustain ground operations in the region. Magway Region has seen intensifying PDF activity since late April 2026, when PDF forces ambushed and killed approximately 25 SAC troops on the Myingyan-Nyaung-U road (April 28) and a PDF mine attack destroyed a junta convoy carrying aerial bombs in Seik Phyu Township (May 9). On the same day as the ambush, mine attacks also struck junta forces departing Salingyi and Yinmabin towns in Sagaing Region, killing and injuring an unspecified but reportedly 'large number' of soldiers.
