KNLA Attacks SAC Railway Gate Outpost, Kills Five Soldiers — One Conscript Defects

Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) forces attacked a Myanmar military council railway gate outpost in the Ledo area, killing five SAC soldiers. One forcibly conscripted soldier surrendered and defected to the KNLA during or after the engagement — reflecting the continuing problem of low morale and forced conscription within SAC frontline units. The KNLA controls significant territory in Karen (Kayin) State and has intensified operations along infrastructure corridors since late 2023.
