Junta Jets Strike Ayardaw Township — At Least 6 Civilians Killed

| Myanmar

On March 22, two Myanmar Air Force jets conducted multiple airstrikes on Ayardaw Township in Sagaing Region, killing at least 6 civilians. DVB English reported that at least 27 civilians were killed across Sagaing Region between March 20 and March 22 — one of the highest three-day tolls of 2026. No active resistance military presence was confirmed in the immediate strike area, continuing the junta's documented pattern of targeting civilian-populated villages in resistance-sympathetic Sagaing. Sagaing Region has been the most heavily bombed area since the 2021 coup, with over 800 villages burned and thousands of airstrike incidents documented by ACLED.
