International Experts Call for Global Rejection of Junta's 'Puppet Parliament'

Justice for Myanmar (JFM) and a coalition of international human rights experts issued a formal statement on March 21, 2026, urging all governments to unequivocally reject the junta's newly convened parliament as illegitimate. The Special Advisory Council for Myanmar (SAC-M) declared that 'the junta's expectation that its sham elections could lead, by stealth, to the formation of a legitimate parliament readily accepted by the international community is delusional.' SAC-M called on states, the UN, and international bodies to increase financial, material, and capacity-building support for the NUG, ethnic organizations, and civil society as the rightful representatives of Myanmar's people.
