SAC Formally Dissolved — New Security Commission Formed

On July 31, 2025, the State Administration Council (SAC) was formally dissolved as the junta's state of emergency expired. Min Aung Hlaing established a new State Security and Peace Commission as the ruling body, retaining all executive authority. Critics noted the dissolution was cosmetic — Min Aung Hlaing remained in command with Soe Win as deputy. The NUG dismissed the restructuring as an attempt to legitimize continued military rule in advance of sham elections.
