Christmas Eve Massacre — 35 Civilians Killed in Hpruso
On Christmas Eve, SAC troops killed at least 35 civilians including women and children in Hpruso Township, Kayah State. The victims, predominantly Christians, were burnt alive in their vehicles while fleeing violence. Human Rights Watch and Fortify Rights documented the massacre, attributing it to Tatmadaw soldiers. Charred remains were found at the scene. The massacre drew international condemnation and became a symbol of SAC atrocities against civilians.
