NUG Declares 'People's Defensive War' Against SAC

Acting President Duwa Lashi La announced a 'People's Defensive War' against the SAC junta on August 7, 2021, calling on all citizens to 'rise up' against military rule. The declaration aimed to coordinate PDF operations with established ethnic armed organizations (EAOs). This marked the formal transition from protest-era resistance to organized armed conflict. Many EAOs, including the KNLA (KNU), KIA, CNF, and KNPP, agreed to cooperation frameworks with the NUG.
