At 3:00 AM, the Tatmadaw detained State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, President Win Myint, and senior NLD officials. Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing declared a year-long state of emergency, citing alleged fraud in the November 2020 elections in which the NLD won a landslide majority.
