Sección Instructora President Quits Mid-Desafuero to Lead New PAZ Party

| MX Politics

Deputy Hugo Eric Flores requested indefinite leave on August 19 from his post as president of the Chamber of Deputies' Sección Instructora — the body that processes requests to strip legislators of immunity — to seek leadership of the newly registered Construyendo Sociedades de Paz (PAZ) party, which the INE had approved as a national party on June 26. Flores' departure left the pending desafuero case against PRI leader Alejandro 'Alito' Moreno without a sitting chair, and he denied accusations that he had deliberately stalled the proceedings during his tenure. Morena's Chamber caucus, led by Ricardo Monreal, had to name a replacement to keep the case moving.
