Fall of the Alamo — All Defenders Killed

| Mexico-US Wars

Before dawn on March 6, 1836, Santa Anna's army assaulted the Alamo in four columns. After roughly 90 minutes of intense fighting, all ~189 Texan defenders were killed, including William Barret Travis, Jim Bowie, and Davy Crockett. Mexican losses were approximately 400–600 killed and wounded. Santa Anna ordered the defenders' bodies burned. The battle became a rallying cry — 'Remember the Alamo!' — that galvanized Texan resistance.
