The Grass Fight Near San Antonio
Texan scouts under James Bowie attacked a Mexican pack-mule train near San Antonio believing it carried silver payroll. The mules instead carried grass fodder for horses, but the engagement revealed severe supply difficulties facing the Mexican garrison under General Martín Perfecto de Cos inside Bexar.
