IDF Names Two Hezbollah Commanders Killed; Hezbollah Threatens 'Appropriate' Response

| Lebanon

The IDF publicly identified two senior Hezbollah figures killed in the Aug 15 Ansar and Deir al-Zahrani strikes: Abu Hassan Alaa (also known as Ali Muhammad Fakhr al-Din), a commander in Hezbollah's Badr regional division accused of directing explosive-drone attacks on Israeli troops in the security zone, and Ali Samir al-Haj Hassan, a battalion commander in the elite Radwan Force. Hezbollah did not confirm the deaths but said Israeli attacks would be 'met with what they deserve' and urged Lebanese authorities to halt 'humiliating' negotiations with Israel. Overnight, Israeli forces fired white-phosphorus artillery shells at the Ali al-Taher and Dabsheh area and swept the ridge with machine-gun fire. Analysts said the escalation reflected Israel's intent to project 'undeterred resolve' in south Lebanon ahead of Israel's October 27 general election.
