PM Salam Condemns Israeli Strikes as 'Violation of International Law'
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said Israeli attacks, incursions, and the systematic demolition of homes in south Lebanon — including in Mansouri, Burj al-Shemali, and Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh — represent 'a serious violation of the principles and rules of international law.' He rejected Israeli claims that the destroyed buildings were military sites, calling the justification illogical. Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said forces were 'destroying the underground infrastructure' and vowed troops would not withdraw from occupied positions in south Lebanon. The exchange came as the cumulative Lebanese Ministry of Public Health death toll since the war began March 2, 2026 reached 4,333, with over 1 million displaced at the conflict's peak.
