IDF 401st Armored Brigade Commander Severely Wounded by Hezbollah Explosive Drone

| Lebanon

A Hezbollah explosive-laden drone severely wounded the IDF 401st Armored Brigade commander — a colonel-level officer — in south Lebanon on May 20. A lieutenant colonel was also wounded in the same incident. The IDF reported four soldiers moderately to severely wounded by Hezbollah drones that day. The wounding of a brigade-level commander marked a significant escalation in the targeting of senior IDF officers, following the killing of a platoon commander (Captain Maoz Recanati) the previous day. The 401st Armored Brigade is one of Israel's premier armoured formations, deployed to south Lebanon as part of IDF ground operations. The attack was claimed by Hezbollah as part of its ongoing campaign targeting Israeli forces maintaining positions in occupied Lebanese territory.
