EU Humanitarian Air Bridge Delivers 4,500+ Emergency Shelter Items to Beirut

| Lebanon

More than 4,500 emergency shelter and household items were airlifted from Maastricht, Netherlands to Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport via an EU Humanitarian Air Bridge, reflecting the scale of humanitarian need from Lebanon's ongoing displacement crisis. The airlift came amid continued Israeli military operations that were preventing large-scale aid delivery by road to many areas of south Lebanon. UN OCHA's flash appeal for Lebanon for March–May 2026 remained underfunded relative to the estimated need. More than 596 collective displacement sites remained active across the country, while international NGOs reported acute shortages of basic medical supplies, food, and water in conflict-affected southern villages.
