Israeli Attacks Kill at Least 24 Across Lebanon; Seven Killed Including Child in al-Saksakieh
Israeli forces killed at least 24 people across Lebanon on May 9, with the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health documenting casualties across multiple towns. The deadliest single strike hit al-Saksakieh in the southern Sidon district, killing at least 7 people including a child. Additional deaths were recorded in Nabatieh, Nahrain, Saadiyat, Haboush, and Mefdoun. The Israeli military also issued new forced displacement orders for several additional towns. Since the US-brokered April 16 ceasefire, Israeli forces had killed nearly 500 people, bringing the total death toll since the March 2 resumption of operations to more than 2,750. Negotiations for a comprehensive peace and security agreement were announced for May 14-15 in Washington DC, but ongoing attacks cast doubt on their prospects.
