Israeli Attacks Kill 20+ Across South Lebanon; Civil Defence Rescuer Among Dead
Israeli air and artillery strikes killed at least 20 people across multiple districts of southern Lebanon, with Lebanese state media reporting 50 killed in the preceding 24-hour period. Strikes hit Toura in the Tyre district (4 killed, 8 injured), Blat in the Marjayoun district (2 bodies recovered), and communities across Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil, Sidon, and Hasbaya districts. A civil defence rescuer was among those killed during recovery operations. Al Jazeera's correspondent described 'a significant escalation compared to the past couple of days,' with ongoing air and artillery strikes throughout the day. The attacks continued despite the April 17 ceasefire agreement, bringing the total death toll since March 2 to approximately 2,700+ killed and over 1 million displaced.
