Israeli Settlers Fatally Shoot 17-Year-Old Karim Shalaldeh Near Sa'ir, Hebron

Armed Israeli settlers opened fire on Palestinian residents at Khirbet Hamroush, near the village of Sa'ir north of Hebron, on Friday, August 21, 2026, after local Palestinians threw rocks at settlers who had entered the village's outskirts on what the Israeli military described as an 'unauthorized hike' — a pattern Palestinians view as a deliberate provocation. Seventeen-year-old Karim Sanad Raja Shalaldeh was shot in the chest and died of his wounds; a 70-year-old man was also shot and wounded. Local residents said settlers set fire to Palestinian homes during the raid. The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed Shalaldeh's death. The killing brings the number of Palestinians killed in West Bank violence in 2026 to at least 87, according to Palestinian officials, on pace to exceed 2023's record settler-violence death toll.
