An Israeli airstrike struck a group of civilians near the Al-Qassam mosque in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, on April 23, 2026, killing five Palestinians — including three children. Bodies were transported to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. Gaza's Government Media Office cited the strike among more than 2,400 documented violations of the October 2025 ceasefire agreement, which include targeted strikes, arrests, blockades, and aid restrictions. Since the ceasefire began in October 2025, at least 786 Palestinians had been killed by Israeli forces before this strike — with 32 deaths recorded in April alone — bringing the post-ceasefire death toll to approximately 792 as of April 23.
