Palestinian Man Awda Atef Awawdeh (25) Shot Dead by Israeli Settlers in Deir Dibwan — Third Settler Killing in Two Days

Awda Atef Awawdeh, 25, was shot and killed by Israeli settlers in Deir Dibwan, a town east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, on April 23, 2026. His killing is the third fatal settler shooting in two days, following the deaths of two Palestinians at al-Mughayyir Boys School on April 21 and one Palestinian in Deir Dibwan on April 22. The April 21–23 wave constitutes the deadliest three-day settler violence episode of 2026 in the West Bank, with at least four Palestinians killed by settlers in 72 hours. Israeli security forces' response has consisted primarily of detentions of Palestinian residents rather than arrests of settlers — a pattern consistent with a 2025 Yesh Din report finding that 93.6% of settler violence investigations end without indictment.
