US Senate Narrowly Rejects Resolution to Curb Trump's Iran War Powers, 49-50

The US Senate failed 49-50 to advance a concurrent resolution — already passed by the House 214-208 in July — that would have directed President Trump to remove US forces from hostilities against Iran absent a declaration of war or specific congressional authorization. Republicans Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Thom Tillis joined Democrats in favor; Democrat John Fetterman voted against it. As a concurrent resolution it would not have gone to the president for signature.
