Pezeshkian Proposes Muslim-World 'Non-Aggression Pact' at Tehran Islamic Unity Conference

President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the 40th International Conference on Islamic Unity in Tehran, proposing a 'mutual security and non-aggression pact' among Muslim-majority states under which countries would respect each other's territorial integrity, bar their territory and airspace from being used against fellow Islamic countries, and reject support for destabilization. He also proposed a permanent OIC-based mediation and conflict-prevention mechanism and closer economic and scientific cooperation among Muslim countries. Pezeshkian framed the appeal around unity without uniformity, saying differences among Muslims should not turn them into enemies, amid what Tehran casts as ongoing US-Israeli aggression against the region.
