Pezeshkian Proposes Doubling Above-Quota Gasoline Price Amid Wartime Import Blockage
President Pezeshkian said in a state television interview that the government wants to double the price of gasoline purchased beyond subsidized quotas, from 5,000 to 10,000 tomans per liter, while leaving subsidized prices unchanged. He said wartime conditions had blocked gasoline imports outright: 'We are in a war and first we must accept that we are in wartime conditions. The route is now blocked and goods are not coming in.' The proposal follows days of worsening queues and station closures nationwide, and comes as the naval blockade and new US sanctions squeeze Iran's fuel supply chain.
