Second Suspected Pakistani Drone Tracked Along LoC in Poonch's Mendhar Sector

A suspected Pakistani UAV was detected around 8:05 PM on August 28, 2026, hovering over the general area of Behrooti village, Balakote area, in the Mendhar sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district — within the operational area of responsibility of the Indian Army's 22 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. Troops tracked the drone as it manoeuvred toward the Mangalnar-Dabrote axis near the border before returning to Pakistan. The Army placed the forward sector under tight aerial and ground surveillance and launched a search operation at first light on August 29 to check for any dropped contraband or arms; the operation remained underway with no recoveries reported. The sighting follows a separate drone intrusion and foiled infiltration bid in Rajouri's Nowshera sector the previous night, keeping the LoC on heightened alert.
