Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) Sworn In

The nine-member Transitional Presidential Council was sworn in at Haiti's National Palace on April 25, 2024. The council—comprising seven voting representatives from political blocs and the private sector, plus two non-voting civil society and religious figures—was mandated to exercise presidential powers until an elected president is inaugurated or February 7, 2026. The TPC was seen as a pragmatic compromise brokered by CARICOM and the United States.
