Israeli Strikes Hit Water Desalination Plant, Two Mosques as IDF Says It Targeted Hamas Weapons Storage
Israeli strikes on Monday, August 24, 2026 hit a water desalination plant and a mosque in Gaza City's Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, cutting potable water access for thousands of displaced families in the area, and destroyed the historic Abu Salim Mosque in Deir al-Balah — one of Gaza's oldest religious landmarks. The IDF and Shin Bet said they struck two Hamas weapons-storage facilities located inside mosques in the Shati and Deir al-Balah areas. The strikes were part of a wider wave across Gaza that killed at least 7 Palestinians and wounded several others, including two children — 4-year-old Hassan al-Hafi in the Bureij refugee camp and Amal Nash'at Abu Khater.
