IDF Strikes Kill Two Hamas Militants in Deir al-Balah, One Identified as Oct. 7 Nukhba Fighter

The Israeli military said it struck and killed two Hamas militants in Deir al-Balah overnight into Monday, August 24, 2026. One was identified as a member of Hamas's elite Nukhba force who took part in the October 7, 2023 assault on Israeli territory. The IDF said the pair had been planning to 'advance terror attacks' against Israeli troops operating in the Gaza Strip and had been working to rebuild Hamas capabilities, in violation of the ceasefire agreed in October 2025.
